Who we are...

Who we are...

charmed by choice, the blog has been a long thoughtful walk through choices. Ultimately, choices to be resilient.
Our family is one of the thousands of real life examples from this recession ...
we have experienced jobloss, mounting debt, property depreciation....
After spending some time hovering in the freak out mode...we have decided there is a choice to be made.
We can choose to stare at all that's challenging us,
or search and concentrate on all the incredible examples of resiliency.
Come along and be amazed at how many people live resiliently...
recovering finacially, emotionally, physically, spiritually...
We've all been told not to stare... but I invite you to stare at all that's resilient.
Let's be inspired and inspire each other.

The Long Story

If you’re looking for an example of perfection, please keep looking...
I don't need the pressure!
If you're looking to build a partnership seeking encouragement, information and inspiration...
 look around the blog,
see if we might find the same input inspiring to spark us to ignite real change.

This blog is basically a compilation of things I’ve found that encourage and empower me to believe in hope…
real life examples of resiliency, dreams come true, pure motivation, “instructional” support….
And some stuff that just makes me grin.
So how did this blog materialize?

Ours is just one in the sea of families impacted by job loss, depreciated property value and mounting debt as a direct result of the economic conditions.
As time marched on and our “recession circumstance” continued to snowball,
I went into problem solving mode… what can we do, to supplement our circumstance?
As I was seeking solutions, I realized it wasn’t just that I was worried about paying the bills and keeping afloat,
 I was seeking inspiration.
All the news seemed to be a constant stream of doom and gloom;
things are bad and getting worse, horrible situations locally, nationally and globally.
I remember thinking, when we are out of this hole,
we’ll be able to give to organizations that help others, who empower people to help themselves.

(Something you should know about me…)
I don’t believe in hand outs… A hand up is what I stand for.

  I think it’s a common linear way of thinking…
1st I’ll help my family, then when I have enough, I’ll help others.
I found that plan very discouraging.
How many opportunities to help others would pass by on my way to financial recovery?

In seeking information to develop a business plan,
I began to learn about Social Entrepreneurship…
helping others simultaneously while growing a business.
 I started a business plan, a gift boutique…
gifts  that not only serve as an opportunity to grow a business,
but an opportunity to immediately connect each purchase with a cause…

I couldn’t believe how energized I felt
every time I discovered examples and explored information about Social Entrepreneurship.
It became a literal renewal of my mind, a change in my thinking …
recognition of the vast opportunities to choose to move from overwhelmed to empowered.
I decided there must be a blog or website that I could access regularly
that would include these components that I searched all over the Internet for.  .
I found cool sites for the twenty somethings… cool sites for elite philanthropic groups ….

But nothing for what I define as “the middle”,
those of us who are well past our twenties and far from the elite philanthropic crowd…
but  busy imperfect families making ends meet, loving our families and hoping to raise our kids to support themselves and have empathetic hearts.
A place that recognizes rebuilding financially must be about rebuilding mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
To date, I just can’t find one place to click that I could be encouraged, educated and inspired…
so I decided to take the leap and make one myself.

(Another thing you should know about me… )
I believe in the abundance mentality,
so if you know of, subscribe to such a blog, please share…
we can never be too full of good positive instruction and input.

So that’s how my focus changed…
while we are still working on our gift boutique…
I felt led to develop this blog, to feed my need for positive input and share it.

There you have it, through a winding path, charmed by choice is out there.

I just include anything that I find encouraging me to move forward into resiliency.

As I'm learning about and finding ways to engage Social Entrepreneurship,
not only from a "business developer's" stand point, but also as a Conscious Consumer,
I hope to find and share many opportunities here with you,
one place to "click"
to be connected with charming choices to learn, grow and shop.

Vision

My vision is to bring as many people as possible along with me …
Join my journey into charmed choices. Search and engage positive choices, choices of empowerment.
Discovering social entrepeneurship was the catalyst for me. Share the simple act of learning to shop differently, going beyond satisfaction with a purchase, to satisfaction with where it came from and how many can benefit from it's purchase.
It can be your catalyst to transform your connection to the belief that we can make change happen,
by our choices, we are not victims of circumstances we are agents of change.
